I am a seasoned programmer with over a decade of polyglot experience... who never entered industry. I am looking for a software job, gamedev or otherwise.
There are three main reasons why I both play and make games:
1. Games stress-test all aspects of app development
Games are cutting edge with UI design, high performance computing, art/music, storytelling, AI, and more.
2. Small games are idea prototypes
Developing tiny projects provides bite-size design problems. Lessons learned here can be adapted to more "serious" coding works.
3. Its fun
Game development is both fun and builds useful skills. I had plenty of this back in college, now such opportunities are rarer and more cherished.
My games are small experiments in game mechanics
These games can be played in minutes. They each provide a quick look at a particular dynamic. Expect two new games per month.
